As a holiday property photographer I visit lots of properties which have a huge amount of love and attention focussed on them to make them ready for the holiday rental market. As a local to Norfolk I know it’s not unusual to head to another part of the county for a short break and to view reams of images on websites looking for a property in the right location that appeals to a premeditated aesthetic of what we want from a holiday home. Norfolk has seaside villages, cosy nooks near lovely places to visit and more and a recent property I photographed had one of the most enviable Norfolk locations I’ve seen. Set in the beautiful Glaven Valley in North Norfolk, this particular cottage benefits from being close to but secreted away from the coast, an enviably beautiful country location, lovely views and being sandwiched between the village of Wiveton and the well regarded town of Holt.
On this occasion I was commissioned to photograph a new property to the market of holiday properties. Exteriors and interiors were required and there was no doubt that despite being late autumn I’d have to make the most of the landscape in which the cottage sits. Arriving early in the morning a light frost was still on the lawn when I started using one of my cameras remotely to record the cottage in its landscape from an elevated angle. The elevated angle allowed me to show how close to beautiful views this cottage sits where a normal viewpoint from ground level would not give us the same viewpoint. An early start gave great access to a wonderful sky balanced well with the light on the cottage and then I worked with the cottage owner to style and photograph the interior so that images could be used to list the property on the market.
In such shoots I aim to give an overview of both exterior and interiors and then produce some detail shots showing some of the touches added to interiors, in this case lovely radiators, lovely warming log burners, and more.
