Sayerwood Joinery are a great small local firm of joiners producing brilliant bespoke work from individual commissions for wardrobes, and other furniture to wonderful steadfast doors, and windows and even beautiful renovation work.
Having commissioned Sayerwood to produce a new sympathetic porch for my own house in a conservation area a few years ago I’m always keen to support their work because of it’s quality and the obvious love that goes into everything they produce. The business is the product of Dominic’s skill and experience and I was keen to include Dominic in a recent shoot at their business premises as it’s always nice to put a name to a face and know who you’re dealing with as a prospective client.
We didn’t have a long period of time for the session as Sayerwood are a busy business, so we decided to try and get some environmental shots of Dominic at his workshop in Norwich late on a Friday afternoon. We also then looked to produce some photographs that focussed attention on the handmade aspect of the business’s work as most of their commissions are bespoke and Dominic’s dedication to each project often involves the use of traditional hand tools. The next stage is to actually document work in situ produced by Sayerwood as often their beautiful installations are best appreciated in the environment they were built for.
