A recent assignment saw us producing some Martial Arts Photographs as part of a new line in our Commercial Photography producing high quality action Sports photography.
We teamed up with Kuk Sool Won Thetford, 5th Dahn instructor Kris French to photograph Kris performing some of his Kuk Sool Won moves. The aim was to show the motion and form of the martial art the movement of which is every bit as complicated and as well practised and perfected as professional dance.
We employed a stroboscopic or repeating flash technique to capture Kris’s movement in a number of his martial art’s disciplines from work with swords both long and short to flying kicks, spinning kicks and defensive blocks. This type of flash technique isn’t an easy photographic technique to perfect and takes considerable effort to set up and requires great timing from both the photographer and client, but the effect is striking and the images are completed within a single camera frame rather than in several images edited together.
It’s hoped that we can produce similar images for other sports and provide interesting striking images, that can be used for sport promotion and illustration both in print and as images for websites that capture the imagination. Future sports photography assignments will include shoots with golf professionals, tennis players, hopefully some snow sports freestylers and dancers.
If you are hoping to promote your sport, then please get in touch to see what we can do for you?
